Not even the stretchiest of Steven Stretchs could lead me to believe that Hardwick going to America has anything to do with membership numbers.

I think I speak for the majority of Richmond members and supporters when I say we are 100% behind Damien for the upcoming season.

That way we cut off his exit and the only way to go is off the cliff.

    I hope so @thebigricho.
We need all hands on deck.
As I wrote in the AGM thread, I notice membership has plummeted from roughly 70,000 to 45,000.

I see this as a high risk potentially high return year. All our new kids have question marks of some form or other. Shai plays like a millionaire; needs to bulk up. Jack is a hard nut ball gatherer; kicking and speed questionable. Ryan is cool under pressure and tackles; will that telegraphic ball drop survive a quicker game.

Agree with the first part, it's not as if the obvious cream of the talent was available to us, it's pot luck from 20 onwards. Those issues I've left could be assigned to our kids this year. Our ability to manage kids well needs to improve out of sight. All our boys this year need specialist attention of some sort to mould them into regular AFL players. Here's hoping things are different and in three years we toast the class of 2016.

I don't know what l think of the draft this year.
Graham was a good pick up,you rarely go wrong with top u18 inside player's .
bolton could be a very good pick up,strong overhead ,and really quick around goal, but needs to build up for Afl .

Stengle is also a good pick up for a rookie, good lead up half forward .
Garthwaite has to build up ,he could end up alright, but will take time ,and his disposal under pressure isn't great, speed gets quicker at Afl,and so does the pressure

Merry Christmas and happy new year all.

I had a quick chat with a friend who is in recruitment at another AFL club yesterday and asked me what he thought of Shai Bolton and he smirked and said 'good luck keeping him out of jail'. Seemed to be tongue in cheek but still he obviously was seen as some sort of risk at the draft. Also said Jack Graham was 'a very Richmond' pick. Hasn't rated any of our early to mid draft picks for a while, Rioli the exception. Said every year after the draft they go through each clubs picks and every year the tigers have picked up alot of players that were not on this clubs radar for the range they were picked in. Reckons it is a 'good thing' that FJ is moving on and Matt Clarke is taking the reins although another of our recruiters wasn't happy with the process, or lack their of, in promoting a replacement for FJ.

He also like the Caddy and Prestia pick ups...

and how did we go if Shai stays out of gaol??

and not many third round picks make it so not sure Graham meets the early to mid draft picks.

However he is not alone in having question marks on our first round drafting

Keep him out of jail, surely he's not that bad or it would have been reported by now like it was with Troy Taylor. On draft night my mate did text to say his numbers slipped due to personal issues, but nothing like going to jail. The only question mark I have on Shai is his weight, he makes Dan Rioli look like Whale Roberts. He definitely has a bag of tricks to bring to the table going by his highlights reel.

Not sure, I guess we will find out in a few years. He seemed to rate his ability fairly high. He did say he can be selfish occasionally but that is not necessarily as bad thing. A lot of great players and forwards in particular can be selfish on field.

As I said, it was tongue on cheek but obviously there were some queries on his character pre draft. That's not unusual.

    Well two things.

Firstly , there were 17 picks used before he was taken. Time will tell how that pans out ?

Secondly , I posted that well before we couldn't swing a deal with GC that allowed us to keep our first pick , which was largely because we gave up our second round pick for Yarran the previous year.

Chris Yarran lol - the gift that keeps on giving.

Sack the idiots who made that decision and hire me I say Vines. A flag beckons.
