Because Dustin is signed for 1.2 mill for 7 years and Lynch would want something similar to that to leave the suns. That'd be what, about 20% of our cap on 2 players? Too much.

Lynch told you he wants 1.2 million did he ?
The guy who finished 16th in the Coleman
Yeah don’t think so, he will want good dollars but not that much as he isn’t a dusty or danger plus the only clubs stupid enough to pay it are rabble and he wants success otherwise he’d stay put and get well payed where he is as he is their marquee player now Ablett has gone.

In other news Ess is trying to do a deal with us to get pick 17 to offload for Stringer.

They will give picks 23 and 28 I think it was for 17, we have to decide if Naish slips enough to use 23 on him ( instead of using 17 ) whilst scoring a 2nd round pick

But if he goes earlier, then we have to use 17 and are screwed out of scoring a Allen or Balta.

You would only consider it if you’d think he’d go after pick 14, you’d think he’d go after pick 10 and Ess have 11 and wouldn’t bid as part of the deal so you’d have to hope the 4 others clubs wouldn’t pick him

Settle petal. I said he'll want something similar to that.

If Lynch leaves Gold Coast next year for any Melbourne club it'll be for over a mill per year, possibly up to 1.5. Plus the AFL have already said Lynch will be eligible for a 'marquee' bonus of up to $600k per year outside of the cap if he is to re-sign with GC. It'll take a hefty offer to lure him to our club, regardless of how successful we have been.

We know the Cotchins, Rances and Jacks are roughly on 600k, didnt we say we wouldnt pay Dusty more than 600k 2 years back when he shopped himself around due to we want a team and wont overpay players ?
That changed when Prestia came on board and we know Dusty is double that now but the other 3 wouldnt be pushing a million until next contracts but are all pushing 30 as well with Rance and Cotch 28 and jack 29 in 2018.
Jack and Rance contract isnt up until end 2019 and Cotchin 2020.

The beauty of Martin's new contract is the timing with the large increase in the overall TPP.

I would expect that the new contract would be heavily front end loaded so that we are paying Martin something like $3.5m over two years and the remaining $4.5m over 5 years. That way we can factor in larger payments to Cotchin, Rance and Jack when their current contracts come up for renewal.

We still have plenty of room for up grades and to look to get Lynch.

Jack is on 750. rance and Cotch more, and if they have a clause in their contracts, they will get the increase.
Ralph Carr didn't have that clause in Dustys contract ,so went to the club for more money for 2017,which most managers probably did,We have also signed on Rioli etc so they are going to be on better money.
We have upgraded 2 onto the senior list,so theirs a large increase for those 2,the player's we have delist would be lucky to get 10 percent of the 2018 salary cap between them.

From what l have heard we had to pull out of chasing Sam Reid because of the negotiations over Dusty

Glad we bailed on Sam Reid, if that's the case.

Pretty sure Sam Reid signed couple months before dusty so looks like was going nowhere

Grigg, Houli, Hampson and Edwards are all 30 or more next year so could go end next year to make room for young guys and our new FF

I think it was only about 3-4 weeks @TigerHardwick .

Martins contract will be massively front ended for 2018,so you would think we will have room to attack the trade period hard next year.
The only way we will get a big name type in 2017 ,is if they take a pay cut for the 2018 season.

Jury is out on that as he didn’t really have the best opponent as Talia took them leaving him to intercept mark mostly.

Will he have same impact at dees ??
Will their key back play as well as Talia does or will Lever now actually have to play the man more rather than intercept

I still reckon Schache is a tiger before the end of next week.

We would have known if Lynch was gettable next year or not a month ago when we were publicly interested in Schache.

We have proven we are good at holding our nerve.

We will only take targeted people. Last years getting of Caddy was brilliant. You can have Deledio but we want Caddy. Deledio isn’t a Cat but Caddy is a Tiger

How can a bloke like Tex Wanker dictate direction or culture at a football club. He is a classic buffoon and the whole story sounds like school-yard bullying to me. All he did was decide to use his 'big dog' status to ostracize and intimidate a young bloke into doing what he wanted and then had the gaul to suggest that he was leaving because of money. Of course he was leaving because of money Tex you spoon, it is a professional sport and if you don't have an AUTHENTIC CULTURE where PEOPLE ARE VALUED, then they will treat it like a business and **** offski!

The Lever story tells more stories than what appears on the surface:

    1) Adelaide's culture and leadership is weak - crumbled under the heat!

    2) Players do not seem to be completely valued - Cameron / Lever gone

    3) Ostracizing a player from an awards and effectually a fair well is bullying plain and simple. Shows me that Tex Wanker et al have pushed for the club to bully a young man as well and THEY DID! Shit house effort on so many levels, particularly when there is a clear link between these actions and mental health challenges. Which club in the history of the game should have a clearer grasp of the impacts and consequences of MH issues then the Adelaide football club.

    4) If the AFL is serious about code of conduct then they will take the AFC to task and issue a 'please explain' around the message that it sent around systemic bullying. School anti-bullying campaigns have stated for over a decade:"Bullying: No Way". Well, the second most successful Australian Rules Football Club in Australia in 2017 just said to all of their young followers as well as the wider community that they thought it was ok to leave someone out, on the outer and wasn't allowed to come to the party because he didn't do what they wanted. That did all of this PUBLICLY, because the player made a decision to return home to and take an offer that was in the best interests of himself and his family long-term. Well, football clubs take the decision to terminate contracts all the time if a bloke, in their estimation, can't get a kick. The players just have to suck it up!

    5) It is a professional game and, unless there is a lot of connection, love, support, honesty, inclusions and integrity similar to what exists at the Mighty 2017 Premiers the Richmond Football Club, then blokes will leave because they will treat it as a business. Look at Dusty and others who will take cuts because of their connection and shared vision for the future ON THE BACK OF THOSE CONNECTIONS & RELATIONSHIPS.

    6) Tex Walker is an adult child!

I'd be filthy to see Miles leave, but would entirely wish him well because I reckon he deserves more. Very, very unlucky not to be a premiership player!
