I notice on the RFC website the club says membership is at about 45,000, roughly 25,000 below last year. Disappointing.
Some supporters will take up restricted memberships but the low figure is disturbing.
I hope we can achieve 50,000 members at the very least.

Cant work out if you are being serious here.

We didn't have 70,000 this time last year and in fact the 45,000 for end of November sounds pretty good in relation to previous years.

So 7% down. The side had better notch up a lot of early wins or it could be a very expensive year.

Is that a democratic 7% or an undemocratic 7%?

I know of quite a few who have decided not to renew their membership so seeing a 7% drop doesn't surprise me.

A-democratic. Most membership organisations have a "rusted on" core -- and within that is a number that will actually vote on things. Given how quickly the membership has grown, the voting, rusted on number at Richmond may be less than 10% (but they are the ones who matter in a governance sense).

Maybe some are waiting on the outcome of the board voting... Maybe some cancelled their "Committed Tiger" auto billing - I think you will find the majority of 47000 memberships to-date are auto renewals.

Just on this: I have for the past x amount of years enjoyed paying my membership off by the month on the committed Tiger plan. This year the club decided, quite without consultation, that I would prefer to just pay for it in one go. Quite a nasty surprise having that appear on the CC statement. As such, I will be cancelling the committed part of my membership at the end of 2017 and will renew my membership if and when I am good and ready.

That is a serious issue @Rumpole I think they need to refund all but the instalment and keep it that way. Quite poor form.

@Vosstiger @Redhead Thanks for the comments. I may call the club and discuss what can be done. I will say that this sort of thing does not make me inclined to pass more money into their hands.

They are great on the phone, the problem will be fixed no problem. Out of interest check the invoice that was emailed to you pre 15th November to see if it is correct.

I had a similar experience several years ago, except they also took the chance to automatically upgrade my memberships as well.

A free and frank exchange of views then occurred and had my account noted to never be be auto-paid again.

Since then I pay my memberships at the tent at the first home game I attend.

I've really got to edit that rule that automatically deletes all email from the club as soon as it arrives...

Always been a tent person myself, but its easy for firms to stuff up things like this internally -- accounts clerks are not usually overpaid.

    Yes, sack the board. Immediately.
