I'd love to have it outlined exactly what Peggy has done wrong???
Spelled her name with an "r"?
When it suits the board, and from candidates they select.
got me. Fixed.
Might be a lost cause Rump ?
I mean seriously ? Two posts after I warn him of the dangers of using illicit substances he's straight back into it.
And overuse of question marks is always a dead giveaway. Seen it too many times.
I think what she has done wrong is NOT spell her name with an "r".
Peggy is a victim of circumstances.
She was not the best presidential candidate, and only got the gig because of 2 opposing factions that made up the rest of the board. She was the only option both factions could agree on, for selfish reasons.
So the board remains functional but it's not a cohesive board all on the same page, and the victim in all this is the RFC. It seems the only thing they are united on is our need for more members, the football side of things has been a basket case.
I'm wondering whether the major reason the board nominated Peggy for the appointed director benefit, was to keep it functional. If she had lost her place as peace keeper, there was a risk one faction could take over. Neither faction want to risk the other gaining the numbers.
So, what has she done to deserve being replaced?
She hasn't provided the club with any real leadership.
@amigo summed it up, she is a compromise candidate and they often end up doing nothing but spouting lines and finding hard to achieve much.
In many ways she is in the same boat as Malcolm Turnbull.
She has sung stability at every opportunity as though it is the holy grail instead of focussing on the things that are truly important.
That either means she is not capable of achieving them or she doesn't know what they are.
She hasn't dealt firmly with the issues that have mattered - the underperformance of the coach and key football department members have been met with extensions or sideways shuffles.
The number 1 fan rant is that we 'accept mediocrity'.
That's a complete nonsense, akin to saying the players aren't trying in games.
No-one accepts mediocrity but in Peggy and the board's case, they don't know how to lead people away from it.
Says you and some other fans.
And the ultimate judge, our position on the ladder.
Really? It's Peggy's fault that we were shit this year? People rave about March. What on field success did he have to show for his tenure???
Members not fans.
March's leadership resulted in steady improvement. Peggy's has been stagnation followed by a plummet.
She is ultimately accountable for the teams performance, just like I credit the Bulldogs president for driving their success.
Let's come at this from the other side.
What has she done well @Vines
The plummet is only a problem if the side stays down. Everything the Board has been telling us is that their internal data points to Hardwick being the one to coach and we will make the finals.
All teams have bad years or at least not as successful as they thought they would be.
You are right that the Board is responsible for the team performance. 2017 will provide answers.
Let us address the obvious here ... she is female and for some, that is a negative. I expect angry denials but I have seen too many posts, not so much here but we are not innocent.
That is true, and I hope to be pleasantly shocked by our making the finals in 2017.
Ha ha ha this is laughable. You dig so many holes I don't know which one to fill in first.
Check Peter Gordon's record. Had a stint and the club was atrocious. The players drove the incumbent coach to resign while he sat on his hands. They were so bad they made a certain replacement coach want to spew up. He left at the end of 96...coincidentallly, the dogs actually started improving after he left.
Then he had a another crack and they finished 7th on the ladder this year, his fourth year of his current tenure. Yet you credit the Prez for their run in the finals and the flag, not the coach and coaching staff??? Holy shit, that is the mother of all stretches!!!!
And you give Peggy 2 years? One year we win 15 games. But it's her fault we blow a 4 goal lead v north. I'm sorry, the noise was a bit loud inside the ground that day but I'm not sure I heard 70000 tiger fans/members/supporters/whatever tbr screaming for Peggy's head in the 3rd quarter...
And tbr, you wanna have a crack at the members/fans debate? Let's go. I'll stick up for the thousands of passionate tiger fans that can't afford exorbitant membership prices in this one. Their voice means less does it?? Hmm. Interesting perspective. Because they don't have voting rights they forfeit their right to an opinion? I'd be interested to see what the member voter turnout is like in this election...do the members that choose not to vote lose their right to an opinion as well???
Separate names with a comma.
