  2. Yellow Sash Award

The Votes are in for Round 21!

Apologies for not updating the Leaderboard for a few weeks. The good news is that after Round 21, Dusty still has a winning lead over Rance who is still 3 points ahead of Cotch. Following is Astbury, Lambert, Prestia, Grigg, Nankervis,  Riewoldt, and Nick Vlastuin rounding out the top 10.

The backline was outstanding ! Astbury being the pick of them for mine.

    We've conceded less points than any other team ( I can't believe I'm typing that ! )

Even less than the piss boring but perenially Stingy Swans.

There was an innocuous 15 seconds of play that put a smile on my face on Sunday.

It was right on the half time siren when the ball was near the boundary , members side about 50 out from Hawthorn's goal.

We had possession and Hawks players were coming from everywhere to pressure/tackle our outnumbered defenders , but the calmness and composure our boys showed under extreme heat as we flicked it around by hand to each other was bloody impressive.

Vlaustin and Astbury were involved , perhaps Grimes too and from memory I think we were almost out of the shit as the siren sounded.

    Composure in defence is critical.

Vlastuin is a bloody top defender.
Him, Grimes, Rance all just straight line the contest. Astbury provides the one on one and aerial muscle, while they all cover for Houli and Ellis' running. As well as covering for their obvious defensive shortcomings.

Needs to have a chat to Dyl Grimes who wouldn't have grimaced if his nose was sheered off. I still worry that CEllis needs to get a bit more GRIT about him. Like how he is coming along though on other fronts.

Actually I thought Corey Ellis was smart about taking his time getting off. Gave the guys a breather and time to set up.

Seemed very deliberate knowing that the game couldn't start until his replacement came on

Some folk I was sitting with were worried that the delay may have caused them to miss their train.

Whether someone is an introvert or extrovert does not bother me.
The fact is Corey Ellis is a skilful player.
Indeed a team combines a variety of personalities, performing different roles.
I liken it to an orchestra with an array of musicians, playing different instruments, in harmony.
Francis Bourke seems a relatively quiet person and is one of our immortal champions.

Yes, they are combining well as a team.
When we have the ball, potential receivers know where to run and the ball carrier appears to anticipate where they are going. Dusty is the leader here, his under pressure handball to Prestia for a goal a prime example.
When we don't have the ball the players are covering and helping team mates potentially caught out by opponents, Rance the leader here continuously covering for his team mates.

Very good signs of a champion team in the making.

Geez Baggy , ( in my best Tony Greig cum Billy Birmingham voice ) ...'You're a hord torskmorster'

That was borderline reportable what Mitchell did to Ellis but regardless , when you've got two blokes going hard at the ball in opposite directions and one throws his elbow out at the last split second and cops you smack in the face with the point of said ( deliberate ) elbow , splitting your nose open ?

Yeh , I doubt you or I would've been capable of walking off the ground after that.

Yeh, you're probably right. I just want the rebirth of another Puship King that eats that stuff up for breakfast. Hey, I would have walked off the bloody ground too. Don't you be so hard on yourself either :p
