The Votes are in for Round 21!

Apologies for not updating the Leaderboard for a few weeks. The good news is that after Round 21, Dusty still has a winning lead over Rance who is still 3 points ahead of Cotch. Following is Astbury, Lambert, Prestia, Grigg, Nankervis,  Riewoldt, and Nick Vlastuin rounding out the top 10.

They brought in some new leadership management people and others who have had an impact on the culture too if I remember correctly Andy. Plenty of info coming out of the players' mouths about how relationships, unity, connections have been the main focus. Playing for each other and the coaches because they like and have greater respect for each other. Go figure hey.

If this holds true in September I doubt he'll be staying.

I didn't understand how Rance was able to be dragged down one out with Harry Taylor. He should have been up the ground, rolling switch with Astbury on the deep forward, surely?

Rarely seen stance get himself so out of position in contests - Taylor had him on toast quite a few times.

No coaching in that - it was 100% Rance.

Sack Hardwick though - I won't be sad.

"Cutting the leadership group to three was made more simple following the departure of Deledio, the 243-game star whose disenchantment with Richmond and loss of faith in the coach had sometimes seen him cut a divisive figure in 2016."
"Richardson had the unpleasant task of having to terminate five assistant coaches at the end of 2016, a realisation that had become apparent months earlier. The fact that Hardwick had made no real changes to his team the previous year despite a two-year contract extension was identified by a number of recent past and present players as misguided loyalty."
"Behind the scenes, Gale responded swiftly and aggressively to the board challenges — ironically the embarrassing short-lived "Focus on Footy" pushed for Neil Balme's recruitment, which eventuated shortly afterwards — and held meetings with insurgents while refusing to entertain their tactics.
More significantly, he identified subversive behaviour among some of Peggy O'Neal's directors, and made the required changes without fanfare."

Some interesting "facts" from an article by Caro in yesterday's Age.

Lids left because of Hardwick, and I wonder if Dusty was about to follow suit if things did not improve on field.

For mine, it's a pleasant change at Richmond where the players do not dictate terms to the board re the coach.

And subversive behaviour among some of Peggy's directors.............what was that all about.

I've obtained Y and B exclusive access to a footage from the coaches box yesterday.

    Some pertinent excerpts:

Message from bench in first term: Caddy has damaged a hamstring and can't play any more.

Some general discussion ensues about restructuring the forward line.

Hardwick interjects: "Don't worry boys, I've got this".

He leans back in his chair, a half smile dances over his lips. "Send Dusty forward".

Statistician late in second term: "Getting beaten in clearances"

Some general discussion ensues about restructuring.

Caracella: "How about we send Rance forward, let Astbury go to Taylor?"

Hardwick interjects: "Don't worry boys, I've got this".

He leans back in his chair, a half smile dances over his lips. "Send Dusty into the middle".

So you're saying he'd do exactly what 99% of the rest of us would do, and expect him to do. Gun coach. Sign till 2120 (not a typo).

Just a shit day I reckon mate. Will come back better for it I reckon. Glad we were crap and were still in it on the wend. Echo someone else's post on here @Lazza I think - I was glad to hear DH break from his normal rhetoric and mention the effect of the crowd on the umps. Good bloke Dimma, but will not take us to the promised land.

A thought occurred to me today.

All of the long serving current AFL coaches, Clarkson, Lyon, B Scott, C Scott, Longmire and even Buckley all had some form of speculation in the media about their potential to shift to Gold Coast, Hawthorn or Collingwood.

Unless I've missed it, I don't recall anyone speculating about our man Dimma.
