Melbourne have a reasonable side, their challenge like St Kilda and us, is to overcome decades of cultural malaise.

A while back rumours were rife Melb was tanking for a priority pick and better placed draft picks , I dismissed as gossip

Melb v Swans at Manuka oval , I'm sitting halfway between the behind post and goal post , 1st qtr Melb player marks 25 out 45 degree angle
I'd been doing a bit of work with young kids and their kicking
So I watched with interest , he was aiming straight at me and sure enough a text book kick that went gun barrel straight thru the points
That was deliberate and there wasn't the slightest reaction from any Melb player . Melb were in the game at 3/4 , it was Liam Jarrah's first game , absolute excitement machine had kicked 5 , benched for the whole last qtr
I was sold , Melb were tanking and that culture has haunted them for a long while
The players there have quite literally thrown a couple of coaches under a bus and I wasn't keen getting Maaric incase he brought some of that to us

Roos worked rebuilding their culture , they certainly have some talent on their list but as we know it's hard to spend years near the bottom and then bring it on the big stage

So you dont rank him too highly Sash?
If you compared him to Francis Bourke he'd be a legend in your eyes? :)

What a difference a week makes, and 50-50 umpiring and a ruckmen with an understanding between he and his mids.
Predictable that the Saints would have a let down and the Bombers would have tactics to keep the Saints under pressure and run them off their feet.
    2nd half will be interesting.

Saints won by 11 goals last week and lost by 10 tonight. Wiped out their percentage gain and Essendon are still behind Sydney. Good result for us.

From 3/4 time last week to full time this week, they've been out scored by 15 goals in 5 quarters.

What a crazy old season..... The Hawks are likely to miss the finals despite being arguably the best team in the comp @ the moment.

They were the last team to beat the Swans ( doing it @ the SCG after looking gone in the last qtr)

They were brilliant against the Crows and should have beaten them more soundly.

They drew with the Giants after being clearly the better team all day.

They were a bee's prick away from rolling the cats on the weekend.

Only problem is.....We still have to play them....so much for the easy draw !!!!!

I'm very nervous about our draw.

    GWS (H)
    GC (A)
    Haw (H)
    Geel (A)
    Freo (A)
    St K (H)

We would need 3 of those to be certain of a finals place and there's tricky aspects to all of that.
GC and Freo away evens the odds, Hawthorn in good form, Geelong down there is tough and Saints off a Perth trip.
What we really need to do is win the next two to take the pressure off and really set ourselves up to charge at the top four.

I'm calling it now, 8 point game on Sunday.

It is really up to us where we finish. If we are good enough we will make the finals. If we win 4 we still can make 3rd or 4th given the other games. 3 wins puts us in finals.

Reckon it is a good draw running into finals. Play two top 4 sides plus another top 8 side. Potentially could win them all or lose them all.

Isn't it great to be alive and in control of your own destiny.
