Twitter having a meltdown at the club for being soft. And Broad is (rightly) copping it big time.
    A pall???
Toby posted a pic on insta this morning from Hawaii. He seemed happy enough. Hope he’s ok.

If this affects income streams and sponsors I’d be very surprised but feel free to post some projections to back up the melodrama.

A 3 week suspension feels like we weren't sure which way to go so we went nowhere.

The incident cast a pall over public perceptions of the entire team.
I was not referring to the players individually, I was referring to public perceptions, which do matter.
Sports is a massive industry and public misconduct has commercial ramifications.
The advertising expert Harold Mitchell, a billionaire, who has a column in The Age, writes 35 per cent of all commercial advertising in the U.S.A. is on sports broadcasting content.

Essendon jabbed the shit out of their players and 35 of them were suspended for a year and they came back with a finals appearance and record membership numbers.

Does Mitchell have a projection to support the melodrama?

What punishment would satisfy the girl, her family, the club, the afl and to a lesser extent, the masses?
    6 weeks?
    A season?
    Jail time?
Bearing in mind 99% of the population could walk past her and not know who she is?

Please don’t misconstrue the above questions/comments as flippant. I’m concerned with social media ‘justice’ and feel that sometimes the actual point gets lost in the Sash like melodrama.
The point is education for young men and aftercare for the girl. Because regardless that 99% of the population have no idea who she is, she still has to function and live within the 1% that do know and that takes its toll.

Nathan Broad will be a lesson that all young men will hopefully learn from.

The Broad case is a serious issue, not a melodrama.
The woman had the legal right to pursue criminal charges, but decided not to do so.
Brendon and Peg have worked tirelessly to attract sponsors and achieve a $10 million improvement in finances.

    some good points.

i don't mean to be flippant either but geez a photo of an unidentified girl, face not in shot, with what i would think 99% of people would consider an attractive form gets shared. ok, bad move, in terms of breaching the trust the girl placed in Broad.

but it's not like it was an upskirt shot on the train is it? i mean, where is the violation really? she is obviously body-proud, it looks like a posed shot, there is no deformity or condition that could be ridiculed by idiots. there wasn't much more visible in that photo than you see down at the beach.

maybe it's the social media thing, i dunno, but this to me is something between Broad and the girl. assuming she is an adult, that is. we have blurred the lines between what is our business and what is public domain so heavily, i find the only thing different about this than millions of posts shared every day is the premiership medallion, are we really this puritanical?

if you really feel that violated, you press charges surely?

the level of outrage over this is as if it was a sexual assault. believe me i am aware of the prevalence of sexual assault and i utterly condemn it. but ffs this was not that! it's within 48 hours of winning the flag, its party time and in the scheme of things nobody was coerced or injured. both parties have cause to rethink their actions. learn from it and move on.
