Very conspicuous by his absence from training photos/videos
I have seen a pick of Yarran elsewhere that shows him wearing the number 13 and looking trim and fit.
ahh silence is golden
this will be in part the fact we have made the top 8 , 3 years in a row now so it isn't news
having someone stick a microphone in your face and ask do you expect to make finals this year ? Will this year be a failure if you don't make finals ?
will naturally draw responses
plus an internal desire to not have that pressure applied
now with the breaking news of the WADA case will enjoy further silence
just watching the heavily edited piece on the RFC site from 11 Jan session
"little" Moore looked interesting , if nothing else he's ready to use the NAB games to press for a spot
that's if I've got the right player :-O
Good to see David Astbury back on track. One of my favorite players.
Major expectations this year.
The little I've seen, I deduce Griff is in for a big one. A real biiiigg one.
I have always believed David Astbury is a bellwether player for the team's fortunes. I expect a major year.
Brett Deledio turns 29 this year.
My family has part Italian heritage from Ardmona-Shepparton, Brett hails from nearby Kyabram according to the biography, and his birthday is the day before my elderly mother's. So we have some similarities.
I would be heartbroken if we do not win a flag while Brett is playing.
I was thinking the same thing. One big asset the club has is having Vickery and Griffiths competing. Luckily both are mobile and the sub rule has gone. Both can easily play at the same time. If one goes down you have big McBean too. It's a list that gets you to the top.
Agree wholeheartedly - time to transition him in for Chaplin (who is about to turn 30) or find a plan B for Chaplin, his role is obviously integral to the back structure but I think we need better options than he going forward.
Am a big Astbury fan, could see him forward also, he has the tools of a handy CHF if his tank was up to it.
I agree we need to find a better option than Chaplin, but can't see Astbury being the one.
I'm surprised Astbury is still at the club, he's been there as long as the formerly injury riddled Grimes and played over 20 less games because he has never over come his injury issues, thought they'd have pulled the plug by now.
If he can play a full season it will be a real bonus, but I can't see it happening.
I like the look of Mabs
he looks like he'd be very dangerous with any amount of time and space
if opposition sides (VFL included) don't engage his body ....
could be a dangerous player to sit on the bench , treat like a substitute and bring on late in the 3rd
I do believe we have purchased a lemon.
I do believe you're jumping the gun
Yes ,a big year in front of Astbury,a ordinary year and it's over.
If he can have a injury free year,l would expect him to have a impact ,he can play, just those damm injuries holding him back.
Early days yet but yes on that vision he shows poise and good ball skills, albeit in a low key practice, he could be something given time to adapt like any new recruit.
Had most of last season and the entire summer to get himself in reasonable shape and didn't. His level of motivation is questionable.
Because he's carrying an injury?
Will be only too pleased to be proven wrong but my money is on a season spent mainly in the 2's followed by a delisting at end 2016. He may be carrying an "injury" but if so it's to do with his heart.
I'm certain we won't be delisting him while still contracted at the end of 2016 as I think he signed a 3 year deal (reportedly for less money than at Carlton), even if he does have a shocker. Lets not start with the doomsdayer attitudes before a ball has been kicked in anger. Give Yarran a shot to prove his worth and if he doesn't then you have the privilege of saying 'I told you so'.
