Kamdyn McIntosh

has been in the system a while now and has 74 games under his belt

he divides the Tiger faithful some thinking he is great with his endless running and hard to beat one on one
others see him as a butcher with ball in hand

Do our flag prospects rely on the likes of Kamdyn going to a new level this year ?

Can he do it , can he raise his output and quality this year ?

I like McIntosh in the team, he also adds the necessary toughness to the team and he doesn't overplay it.

No.8 Dick Clay 213g(1966-76), Michael Roach 200g 607goals(1977-89), Alan Geddes 182g 1925-43), Robert Carew 45g(1919-22), Jack Riewoldt 259*g 623*goals(2007-)

somebody at a training seemed to think he had put on weight and looks great

might have been he's more imposing in real life

the 3 goals against Hawks in the final could have been the confidence boost he needs as he hasn't hit the score board very often
is it a case it might teach him to run to better spots going forward
if that also gets opposition teams paying closer attention that would increase his value to us

McIntosh is serviceable and in our top 22. Turning 25 in April.

We will be doing well if someone (or more likely multiple someones) replaces him in the top 22

he did spend 3 weeks in the VFL so like B Ellis he is on the edge of the top 22 if not just outside it

The three weeks were rounds 15 to 17 and on the back of three games with little input - single digit disposal count. Came back in round 18 and played the rest of the year back in some form.

He is still top 22 in form.

However, like everyone else in the team, if we can get players in to either force him out of the 22 or to lift to another level then all good for us.

He is quick tough and runs all day. Disposal level average and he gives away far too many frees.

last year we did have various people out for periods of time
so the likes of K Mac , B Ellis , Broad might have got more games than they other wise might

Our injury/rehab list looks pretty small at this stage
we might find come round 1 there are a few surprising omissions

there is something I like about K Mac but fear he needs a sparkling preseason to hold his spot (great position for the Club)

His running to fill gaps in the defensive zone and protect the open side on a switch is second to none. Very few stats but critical to our defensive transition.

A clue, watch who mans the mark on a switch and stops/denies a quick outlet/next disposal. Kam's often the guy.

can improved versions of Menadue , Markov and Naish fill that role or does he have nothing to worry about ?

Not that it is a bad thing, competition for spots keeps driving guys harder

I suspect similar is happening in the forward line(or small forward with some mid rotations) , Baker & Bolton must be wondering how they are going to get a crack with Rioli , Butler , Castagna , Higgins , Edwards all seemingly entrenched in the side and the arrival of Lynch might reduce the number of smalls by one to boot.

Tall, hard running mids are not that easy to find, especially ones that run hard in both directions.

A skill set that will be in demand under the new center bounce rules

His physical assets and running ability are such positives that the odd mistake is acceptable.. He is improving and as long as he keeps trending that way, it'll be all good
