Round 2 Richmond vs Collingwood
#1
Round 2 is upon us and a good but not great win in round 1.

Most players did their roles so would doubt to see anyone dropped on form.
We lose Rance to ACL injury until he is back for finals ( his words )
Garthwaite is the logical replacement but hes had an interupted preseaon with achilles problems and didnt play much last week so would need a few weeks to get up to fitness for AFL level.
Miller is also injured.

Do we throw Balta down back now or do a smokey and use Cal Moore down there or just add Markov down back and let Grimes, Astbury, Vlastuin handle the bigger guys with Balta dropping back to CHB to chop out ?

Ellis was the only one who set the VFL on fire with 40 touches does he come in and we leave the 6-7 we have down there to see how it goes ?

B- Short - Grimes - Vlastuin
HB- Markov - Astbury - Broad
C- McIntosh - Cotchin - Lambert
HF- Edwards - Riewoldt - Rioli
F- Higgins - Lynch - Butler
R- Nankervis - Martin - Prestia
INT- Weller - Balta - Graham - Ellis

In - Ellis, Markov Out - Rance, Houli

EMG - Soldo - Moore - Ross

Last time they met: MCG, preliminary final, 2018: Richmond 8.10 (58) lost to Collingwood 15.7 (97)

We will have at least one out , Rance  , maybe more  Balta and/or Butler ?

I see this as a test of our maturity as a "power" club

an embarrassing loss in a prelim final last time we meet

Can we come out and impose ourselves on the Pies but not be over cooked ???

Geelong had the loss to the Hawks in '08 GF after being the dominant team all season

Geelong's response was emphatic , they beat the Hawks on every occasion after that for many years
and the games were real block busters
Their steely resolve was to be admired , can we do similar ?

the Pies definitely stretched us in the two home and away games last year

they put pressure on us and we looked fumbly in both

speed of moving the ball out of defense was a key part

bringing Baker in for Balta could give us that extra defensive pressure
keep the entries into our forward 50 low to take Howe out of the equation

and keep the ball out of Sidebottoms hands

I think we have plenty of options for covering Rance & Houli
with Ellis , Balta , Moore , Markov
