Only a couple days away now. I have a feeling we'll trade up on the night using a future pick or two.

On another note I see we are likely to sign Mav Weller directly to the rookie list by using a new rule that prevents going through the draft process. Now its hardly inspiring signing delisted saints but I've always thought he was a decent player. At the very least he provides cover for some of the depth we lost and for only a rookie contract. Im okay with it.

I guess it can go here.
We will steal another Sun who ended up at the saints
Maverick Weller will join us as a rookie and has pulled out of the draft to do so

I like him a lot. Looks fast, chases hard, loves a tackle, can kick a long goal, is long, looks a good citizen, doesn’t mind the hard ball, looks to take opponents on with his speed. Also, 99% sure he went in for the kiss with the fox footy reporter...

Having one round on the first night seems ridiculous to me. Undue stress on kids.

Second rd pick. Jack Ross. Inside mid with creative hands - mature body. Do our recruiters live next door to the Oakleigh footy ground?
[hr]
Fraser Turner. Elite outside runner from Clarence.

The site does seem to need a bit of CPR though.

Is everyone happy with the draft selections? They look OK to me, but I still think we are short on a good backup ruckman.

I assume everyone saw that the hyphenated one has two mummies. Will no doubt get a big press piece eventually and please the progressive types on the board.

I think we need to draft a new president too given her maj's role in the NAB super scandals.

I think if you look at our bottom line the Prez is doing just fine.

I am happy with the selections I think we needed to invest heavily in Midfield back up. I get your point about a ruckmen though. Soldo will need to step up metinks

Im happy with the picks for the late picks we had

Dawkins looks a Cripps / Bontompelli type, will take time though

Jack Ross is very clean by hand and foot under pressure and doesnt panick and can play right away I will say WILL play round 1

Fraser Turner plays and moves exactly like Jared Polec

Luke English highlights dont stand out like rest but one thing he can do is run all day

Aarts as a rookie is alright as we all know what he can do

Mav Weller will offer our midfield some chop out and all 3 ex-suns asked the club to recruit him

and now we have asked AFL to have Sydney Stack train with us, a very talented WA boy overlooked in draft due to commitment
Has that much ability but not the mind so hopefully that changes

NAB's bottom line is doing fine too -- its "trust" that is the key issue. Not everyone in banking (or real estate :p  ) gets that.

I see someone has already done up the 2 mummies angle:

Agree with TH on Dawkins et al. But I don't quite understand the Weller drafting unless he's slated to be a specialist tagger

Thanks for the Tongue in Cheek reference  :)

I believe it is for a tagging role. I think there's some potential there as well. I think most Saints would be shocked he was delisted. A mature body for depth that doesn't cost much, I can see some sense in that. Also the Suns and the Saints are 2 of the worst for developing talent.

Weller is a good character I think.

The thing that impressed me about Collier-Dawkins was his speed and willingness to brush aside tacklers. I like that sort of mindset.

Jack Higgins has spent his off season in the weights room - no more Chum puppy fat food for him. Looks big, in a good way.

I think Dan Butler will be the best inclusion for round one. He’s not a superstar but there’s something about his pace and skill that scares oppo defenses.

Turner - long term replacement for Grigg/Houli on the wing HB running role??

Why? Because he is a maverick?

I think the club needs to get beyond "deny, deny, deny" in 2019.

He went to the school my mum taught at (same school as our CEO incidentally)...given, that was a long time ago.

Nothing wrong with the kid just his environment. My mail is he doesn't indulge but that violence and family troubles hurt him. Got into a fight defending a sibling. Good chance to flourish at Tigerland. Best place for him.

I don't know what l think of the draft, people compare Dawk to Cripps, but l think they are a bit different,Dawk lacks a bit of endurance, but is probably quicker,l think he's more a forward type than mid,it will interesting to see how he develops in 2019.
Jack Ross is a solid selection,he's strong at the contest ,l think he might turn out a Afl player,Frazer Turner ,lm surprised they call him a mid,l think he's a flanker, over time he may turn out a wingman type, but at the moment,he's a flanker, but he looks ok .
Luke English is a ok player,he knows how to get the ball, and great endurance,so he will just keep going ,neat skills to.

I like that we brought Weller in,l think he might be good for our team, adds decent depth to the midfield.
