The AFL wishes to advise players are able to nominate for the 2019 NAB AFL Mid-Season Rookie Draft from 9.00am (AEST), Monday April 29 until 5.00pm (AEST), Friday May 3.
The AFL’s first Mid-Season Rookie Draft will be conducted at the conclusion of Round 10 of the Toyota AFL Premiership Season, on the evening of Monday May 27, 2019.
Club participation:
For Clubs to participate, they must have an available list spot by midday on Monday May 27, 2019. Clubs that choose to participate in the Draft will select in reverse ladder order set at the conclusion of Round 10.
Eligible players include:

- Players who have previously nominated for the National Draft (this refers to the National Draft immediately prior to December 1, 2018).
  • Note: A Player who nominated for and was not selected during the National Draft and who has committed for a further year as a 19-year-old in a Northern Academy or Next Generation Academy is an exception and is not eligible for selection in the 2019 Mid-Season Rookie Draft.
- Players who have previously been on the list of a Club (not required to nominate for the previous Draft), including:
  • A Delisted Player
  • Note: A Player delisted by a Club cannot be reselected in the 2019 Mid-Season Rookie Draft by the same Club in the period immediately following their delisting.
  • For example, a player delisted by a Club in 2018 could not be re-selected by the Club in the 2019 Mid-Season Rookie Draft unless they nominated for the National Draft.
  • A Retired Player and/or a Player who has delisted himself and has not been on an AFL List for one year or more.
  • For example, a player who retired in 2018, is ineligible to be selected in the 2019 Mid-Season Rookie Draft unless they nominated for the National Draft.
State League Participation:
- Players who are selected in the 2019 NAB AFL Mid-Season Rookie Draft that stay in their original State are subject to the following:
  • They will not be permitted to play against their original Club unless otherwise agreed by all parties.
  • The player has the right to return to their original Club to participate in finals if their service is no longer required at their AFL Club.
