Continue reading...Richmond VFLW coach Tom Hunter has been named VFLW Coach of the Year at the VFL Best and Fairest night on Monday.
Hunter has led Richmond’s VFLW program since it’s inception in November 2017, and was this year announced as Richmond’s inaugural AFLW coach.
Renowned for his caring nature, the former primary school teacher has guided the Tigers to great success in 2019, resulting in a top four finish and finals berth.
An AFL Level 3 Accredited Coach, he developed his coaching prowess as an assistant coach with Richmond VFL, mentored by coach Craig McRae, and at the Calder Cannons.
Hunter said he was humbled to receive the award.
“There’s some fantastic coaches in the VFLW at the moment…so it’s really humbling to be recognised,” he said.
Three talented Tigers were named in the VFLW Team of the Year, AFLW-listed trio Tayla Stahl, Monique Conti and Rebecca Miller.
