VFL backline and development coach Ryan Ferguson provides a summary of how the Tigers’ players performed in last Friday's Round 17 win over Collingwood.

Connor Menadue
27 disposals, 11 handball receives, one goal, five tackles, eight clearances & 10 inside-50s

“Played midfield and forward. He was damaging, used his speed and his run and carry. He kicked a beautiful goal early to set us up.”

Jacob Townsend
22 disposals, 10 tackles, five clearances & seven inside-50s

“A great combination of toughness and creativity—10 tackles but also created some dangerous attacks for us.”

Dan Butler
19 disposals, six marks, four tackles, three inside-50s & two rebound-50s

“Played as a midfielder but also spent time forward. He was lively all day and pressured well, things we come to expect from ‘Buts’.”

Callum Coleman-Jones
17 disposals, 29 hit-outs, four marks, five tackles & five clearances

“Impressive game for a ‘tall bloke’ in those conditions. Played ruck and forward and was a presence in the air all over the ground. He could have really had a day out if he converted in front of goal.”

Mav Weller
16 disposals, eight tackles, five clearances, four inside-50s & three rebound-50s

“Played a strong brand of footy and laid eight tackles. He is leading the younger guys superbly at the moment.”

Oleg Markov
15 disposals, six marks, two goals, two tackles & three inside-50s

“Playing exciting footy up forward. Kicked two early goals to get us going and could have had more (goals) but also set up others. His explosiveness is hard to match up on.”

Kamdyn McIntosh
14 disposals, three marks, three inside-50s & three rebound-50s

“Played back on ‘talls’ and ‘smalls’, looking to develop his versatility in this area. He did it well and played the conditions nicely.”

Jake Aarts
13 disposals, three marks, two tackles & two clearances

“Had some nice one v one wins and looked sharp in his movement and creativity—some nice signs going forward into the future.”

Luke English
12 disposals, 10 tackles & three clearances

“He's been good for us after returning from injury a couple of weeks ago. Beats his man and wins the ball, had 10 contested possessions.”

Riley Collier-Dawkins
12 disposals, seven tackles & six clearances

“Doesn’t always accumulate high numbers but plays an aggressive brand of footy and can have high impact on the game which was the case versus the Pies. Played like an old school centreman controlling the middle (of the ground).”

Noah Balta
11 disposals, three marks & four tackles

“Made some improvements with his defensive alertness this week as well as his positioning and his physicality. Played back but also had a stint in the ruck and looked dynamic as that mobile ruckman.”

Toby Nankervis
11 disposals, 16 hit-outs, three clearances & one goal

“Got through the first half, enjoyed his footy and the boys loved having him out there. Got through unscathed which is the main thing.”

Ryan Garthwaite
Nine disposals, seven spoils & three rebound-50s

“In great form. Played as our deepest back, had seven big spoils, a couple of intercept marks and held great structure.”

Derek Eggmolesse-Smith
Eight disposals, four tackles & three rebound-50s

“Wasn’t in the action as much as he normally is but defensively he was very sound.”

Ben Miller
Five disposals & disposals

“Competed well as a key forward this week and kicked a couple of goals.”

Blake Grewar
16 disposals, six tackles, four clearances & one goal

“Strong in the contest. Won plenty of ball on the inside but also complemented that with trademark touches of class, finished well in front of goal.”

Jacob Ballard
15 disposals, seven tackles & two goals

“As our acting captain, he played wing and forward and hit the scoreboard. His versatility is really valuable to our team.”

Tom Silvestro
15 disposals, four tackles, two score assists & one goal

“Another guy who can play multiple roles and we can depend on to impact the game and complement others around him.”

Lachlan Street
14 disposals, three marks, two tackles & two spoils

“Played back for the whole game and did a great job. Was good in traffic and worked well with the other backs.”

Luke Nelson
13 disposals, four tackles, one goal & two clearances

“Continues to impress and plays wet conditions well. He hit the scoreboard and always looked dangerous.”

Chad Harris
12 disposals, six spoils, four tackles & three rebound-50s

“Loved his game. He had six spoils, a defend-first attitude and the work-rate to get to the contest and out number, and also spread and find the ball in attack.”

Dan Coffield
11 disposals, four marks, three spoils & three rebound-50s

“Solid game, his contested aerial work really stood out. Won his one v ones and generated counter-attack.”

Bailey Henderson
Eight disposals, two marks, two tackles & four inside-50s

“’First gamer’ and did well, played wing and back and showed plenty of poise.

Good to see CCJ playing well. Hopefully will continue the development and become a beats in a few years at AFL level.

Problem is then it means nothing at all so those that can't get to the fixture has no feel for who may come in or more importantly at this time of the year will be let go at the end of the year.

Riley Collier-Dawkins -- I have a gut feeling he's going to be a 200 plus gamer for us. Anyone here seen him play?

If you read them for long enough you can get the ones that are playing well and the ones that need to do more work.

Bit like how teachers have to rate all the kids in their class without saying anything negative.
