Richmond has locked in emerging duo Shai Bolton and Patrick Naish for two years, with the pair re-committing until 2021.
In his third AFL season, Bolton, 20, has emerged as one of Richmond’s exciting talents in 2019, playing 17 of his 26 career AFL games this season, including a strong performance in his first final on the weekend against the Brisbane Lions.
Lightning quick with impressive skills at both ground level and in the air, Bolton has added depth to his game in 2019, rotating through both the midfield and forward line.
A naturally gifted footballer, Bolton is averaging 14.4 disposals, 3.6 inside-50s, 3.2 marks, 5.7 score involvements and 3.6 tackles per match this season, and has kicked 14 goals.
Naish, 20, played two AFL games this season, debuting in Round 12 v Geelong, where he had 20 disposals and kicked a goal.
Playing on the wing and across half-back this season, Naish continues to improve and impress, and is regularly one of Richmond’s best performers at VFL level, averaging 24.3 disposals per game.
Richmond List Manager, Blair Hartley said both players are important to the Club’s future.
“Both Shai and Patrick had strong pre-seasons and we’re rapt to see their hard work transfer into the AFL season,” he said.
“They’re both talented players, with more development to come which is exciting, and we’re looking forward to seeing them progress over the next few years.”
